Wrexham convince former Man Utd man to sign up as Ryan Reynolds plans take shape

Former Manchester United and England goalkeeper Ben Foster is to sign a new deal to stay at Wrexham, TEAMtalk understands.

Foster, 40, came out of retirement to play the last eight games of the season for Wrexham, helping them win the National League title and promotion to League Two.

Foster played a key role in Wrexham’s success saving a last-minute penalty in their crucial title deciding game against Notts County.

Indeed, he has proved hugely popular with the club’s co-owner Ryan Reynolds, who has regularly spoken of his wish to persuade Foster to stay on.

However, the former Manchester United, Birmingham, West Brom and England shot-stopper only signed a short-term deal until the end of June when he arrived at the Racecourse Ground in March.

Indeed, Wrexham moved for Foster after losing goalkeeper Rob Lainton to injury but has since done enough to impress Red Dragons boss Phil Parkinson.

Parkinson is keen to keep hold of Foster as he sees his experience as vital for his squad as Wrexham look to make a push for promotion from League Two next season.

Foster had initially announced his retirement in September 2022 after leaving Watford.

Now we can confirm that an agreement is imminent to keep Foster at the Racecourse for an extended spell.
