Ningbo: Malaysia secured 2 spots in the men’s doubles semi-finals after Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin and Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik advanced to the final four of the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) on Friday.
Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin produced a sensational comeback to eliminate the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions from Taiwan, Lee Yang/Wang Chi Lin, in the quarterfinal action held in Ningbo, China.

After losing the first set 19-21, Goh/Izzuddin showed remarkable resilience as they bounced back to win the second set 21-19, forcing the match into a decider.
The decider was fiercely contested with both pairs chasing points back and forth, but the composure of Goh/Izzuddin in crucial moments saw them clinch the game with a score of 21-19.
The victory sets up a showdown between Goh/Izzuddin and their teammates, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, for a place in the final.
Chia/Soh secured their spot in the top four after defeating the Chinese pair, Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi, 21-14, 21-15.

In men’s singles, Lee Zii Jia seemed to perform below his best as he succumbed to the reigning All England champion from Indonesia, Jonatan Christie.
In the match, Jonatan dominated from the start, winning the first set 21-11.
Hopes for a comeback from Lee in the second set to at least push the match into a decider were dashed as he could only gather six points, losing 6-21 in just 34 minutes of play.
Jonatan will face China’s top seed, Shi Yuqi, in the battle for a place in the final tomorrow.
